SDLPoP

SDLPoP is an open source port of Jordan Mechner's legendary Prince of Persia, one of the most influential action platformer video games in history. This revision of the game has been programmed from the DOS version and, although it runs natively on Windows and Linux, it also works properly on this Mac release.

The same game, but with improvements

One of the most interesting aspects of SDLPoP is that you can enjoy the original Prince of Persia, just as it was originally designed, without alterations of any kind. Now, that doesn't mean you have to play it that way. This version of the game comes with a lot of additional features, which will allow you to enjoy a much more modern gaming experience. You can do a number of things, from changing the resolution or adding new lighting effects, to enabling cheats or quick saves to make it easier. Again, all of this is completely optional.

A port based on the DOS version

For those interested, SDLPoP is based on the disassembly of the DOS version of Prince of Persia. For this reason, if you originally played it on any other platform, such as SNES or Mac, you may not remember the graphics being like this. Each port of the game had a different look and feel due to the hardware limitations of the time, which is why each platform had different graphics. This particular version offers visuals that are very consistent with the DOS version.
